Biography:

Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, I graduated from Jesuit High School in 1975 and from the University of Florida in 1979. I then attended law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas, graduating in 1982. My career began with a two-year tenure at the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, followed by five years at the Federal Public Defenders Office in the Southern District of Florida (Miami-Fort Lauderdale Divisions). After that, I returned to Tampa to establish my private practice in criminal defense, where I have been ever since.

I focus on criminal law in both state and federal courts, with the majority of my cases taking place in United States District Courts. Throughout my career, I have represented a diverse clientele, including judges, lawyers, doctors, entertainment figures, police officers, first-time offenders, and career offenders. I have tried over 200 jury trials, with numerous victories that speak for themselves.

I am a member of the American and Florida Bar Associations and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. I am also an invited member of the National Trial Lawyers, a prestigious organization comprising the top 100 trial lawyers from each state. In 2015, I was honored by the American Society of Legal Advocates (ASLA) as one of the Top 100 Criminal Defense Lawyers in Florida.

My cases have been featured in prominent publications such as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Las Vegas Herald, Houston Chronicle, Des Moines Register, Philadelphia Inquirer, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Tallahassee Democrat, Jacksonville Florida Times-Union, and Miami Herald, among other local newspapers.

I have been recognized in Tampa Bay Magazine’s “Best Lawyers in Tampa” edition and have been named a Florida “Super Lawyer” and “Florida Legal Elite” by Florida Trend Magazine. Year after year, I am listed in the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell publication, where practicing attorneys rate their peers. My AV Preeminent rating, the highest possible rating for an attorney, signifies the pinnacle of professional excellence and is awarded only after peer review by members of the Bar and Judiciary. Recently, I was also selected as one of Martindale Hubbell’s “Top Rated Lawyers in Litigation,” chosen from AV Preeminent-rated attorneys in specific practice areas.

I have dedicated my professional life to defending those accused of criminal offenses. While no outcome can be guaranteed, I can promise you my unwavering commitment and best professional efforts on your behalf.
